This 43 page report presents the findings of the mid-term evaluation for the second phase of Empowerment through Education in Afghanistan (EEA), an education project funded by DFAT and implemented by CARE. EEA aims at strengthening the role of women in rural communities through providing increased access to education for adolescent girls and boys. In addition to the standard elements of community-based education programs, EEA includes special participatory approaches - such as student peer groups and village education committees with rotating membership schemes for students - to build confidence and leadership skills.
