Introduction
This AMH project aims to provide safe work opportunities for migrant women by working with the private sector and the government to provide in demand vocational training and job matching while ensuring that women can access appropriate social and protection services.

Las mujeres migrantes y refugiadas venezolanas y su inserción en el mercado laboral peruano: dificultades, expectativas y potencialidades
El trabajo se centró en las regiones de Lima y Callao, La Libertad y Piura, utilizando una aproximación metodológica mixta. A nivel cuantitativo, se analizaron los resultados de la encuesta realizada por CARE Perú, acerca de los medios de vida, medios de protección y salud mental de la población migrante venezolana de Lima y Callao, Piura, La Libertad y Tumbes a inicios de 2020. Con un marco muestral de 503 casos, se obtuvo una perspectiva general sobre diferentes aspectos de la situación laboral de las mujeres migrantes venezolanas en las regiones de estudio. A nivel cualitativo, se realizaron 33 entrevistas semi-estructuradas, que permitieron ahondar en las percepciones de las mujeres venezolanas y de las y los empleadores peruanos. Dada la situación de emergencia sanitaria, a raíz del COVID-19, las entrevistas se llevaron a cabo vía telefónica.
Con respecto a la condición migratoria de esta población, los principales hallazgos son los siguientes: Alrededor del 66% de las mujeres encuestadas tienen entre uno y tres años en el país, lo que coincide con el aumento de los flujos de ingreso durante los años 2018 y 2019. Por su parte, en relación a la documentación migratoria, de las mujeres venezolanas que se encontraban en situación regular, el 56% de ellas contaban con PTP, mientras que el 35% con carné de extranjería.

Journeys: Experiences of Nepalese and Bangladeshi cross border migrants living with HIV
Enhancing Mobile Population’s Access to HIV and AIDS Information (EMPHASIS), Services and Support is a 5-year project funded by Big Lottery Fund, UK. EMPHASIS is implemented in Nepal, India and Bangladesh to address AIDS related vulnerabilities of cross border populations who are moving between Bangladesh, India and Nepal EMPHASIS is an operations research project and one of the pioneer regional projects to address HIV and AIDS vulnerability among cross border populations. The project aims to address its goals through service provision,
capacity building of relevant partners/stakeholders, and advocacy through generating evidence. As part of generating evidence, EMPHASIS developed a research study to investigate the dynamics associated with accessing services for mobile groups who are already affected by HIV and AIDS. This study examines people and questions that were not covered by the EMPHASIS baseline survey that was previously conducted.
Three separate studies were conducted in Bangladesh, Nepal and India. Bangladesh and Nepal first initiated the study aiming to understand the dynamics of HIV infection among migrant populations and also to assess barriers to accessing services at source. In India the study was initiated later, to assess the barriers to accessing services at destination. The prime objective of the study was to present these barriers to services at the regional level among the regional stakeholders. Sharing the findings at South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) could be an important way to initiate dialogue between the governments of Nepal and India to formalize a cross border referral system. SISTEMATIZACIÓN DE LA ESTRATEGIA DE SALUD DEL PROYECTO ALMA LLANERA DE CARE PERÚ
El presente documento sistematiza la estrategia de salud del proyecto “Alma Llanera” de CARE Perú que se viene implementando en las regiones de Tumbes, Piura, La Libertad, Lima y Callao desde septiembre del 2019 hasta agosto de 2023. Dicha estrategia busca promover el acceso a servicios de salud de personas migrantes y refugiadas en sus ámbitos de intervención. Esta sistematización, enmarcada en un enfoque comunitario y participativo, consideró las miradas de las diferentes personas involucradas en la estrategia de salud del proyecto: equipo central y regional, consultores, agentes comunitarios de salud y beneficiarios del proyecto. Para ello, se recolectó la información a través de grupos de discusión, entrevistas individuales y encuestas, a la par de la revisión de documentos concernientes al programa y a la estrategia en particular; a fin de recoger buenas prácticas, lecciones aprendidas y procesos innovadores, que permitan generar aprendizajes internos e interinstitucionales. Los temas de salud y bienestar están atravesados por variables estructurales de pobreza, violencia, discriminación y corrupción aunados al limitado acceso de la población a los servicios de salud, en especial la refugiada y migrante. La pandemia por COVID-19, agudizó estás problemáticas y evidenció la importancia y necesidad de atender adecuadamente la salud física y mental. Para el proyecto “Alma Llanera” este contexto género una reorganización de su diseño y presupuesto para la priorización de la salud en la población migrante, a través de las ferias integrales, la entrega de vales de salud y la derivación a establecimientos de salud, considerando la vulnerabilidad de la población de refugiados y migrantes.
Entre las lecciones aprendidas resalta el que la estrategia de salud ha permitido acercar a la población refugiada y migrante a los servicios de salud, siendo esta una necesidad básica, sobre todo en situaciones de emergencia como ha sido la pandemia por la COVID-19. En este sentido, los vales permitieron atender situaciones de emergencia, pero evidenciaron las dificultades para la sostenibilidad del tratamiento producto de otras necesidades (alimentación, vivienda) que, en consecuencia, requieren igual atención inmediata. On the 17th and 18th of July 2014, the International Conference on Women, Migration and Development: Investing In The Future was convened by CARE
International and hosted at the Overseas Development Institute in London. The objectives of the conference were to: 1) highlight the challenges faced by vulnerable migrant workers, especially women, 2) advocate, based on CARE and others’ experiences, for strategies, policy and practical responses which need to be taken to protect migrant workers’ well-being, particularly with respect to safe mobility and access to healthcare, 3) recognize women migrants’ contribution as economic actors and advocate for policies and planning processes that ensure their protection, 4) advocate for recognition of the role of migration as a key development enabler in the post-2015 development agenda. CARE and ODI presented the findings from their five year EMPHASIS (Enhancing Mobile Populations’ Access to HIV and AIDS Services, Information and Support) programme in South Asia. EMPHASIS, a project which started as a HIV and health intervention, was successful in surfacing and addressing other aspects such as safety and dignity of migrants, economic empowerment, financial inclusion and safe remittances, access to education for migrants’ children, and women’s empowerment. The conference was a response to the call at the May 2014 Stockholm Global Forum for Migration and Development both for civil society/government cooperation around regional systemic approaches to migration and for urgently needed programmatic data and evidence on migration. External ex-post evaluation of the “Multi-sectoral Protection Response for Vulnerable Populations in Ecuador affected by the Humanitarian Crisis” Project executed by CARE, Alas de Colibrí Foundation and Diálogo Diverso between 2019 and 2020
To respond to the migration crisis CARE Ecuador (CARE), Diálogo Diverso (DD) and Alas de Colibrí Fundation (ACF) associated to implement, with funding from the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) of the U.S. Department of State (that finances assistance actions for vulnerable refugee and migrant populations around the world), the “Multi-sectoral Protection Response for Vulnerable Populations in Ecuador affected by the Humanitarian Crisis” Project (PRM Project), from September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. The Project aimed at improving health and physical and psychological well-being of the forced-to-migrate Venezuelan population (and other nationalities), both migrants and refugees; as well as of the vulnerable local population, particularly LGBTIQ+ individuals and women survivors of gender-based violence, through a multi-sectoral intervention that includes: health care, legal and psychosocial advice, shelter, and comprehensive support interventions for the migrant humanitarian crisis. The project also generated advocacy actions to strengthen the capacities of public officials and institutions related to migratory processes, and to promote the restitution of migrants and refugees’ rights.
